STAGE 1 TH400 TRANSMISSION
The Stage 1 TH400 is built for STREET/STRIP and DRAG RACE vehicles producing up to 750 horsepower/750 foot pounds of torque,OR 1200 horsepower/1000 foot pounds of torque if you add our CUSTOM 36 ELEMENT OVERSIZE SPRAG AND DRUM ASSEMBLY ($399.00).   


STAGE 2 TH400 TRANSMISSION
The Stage 2 TH400  is built for EXTREME DUTY PRO STREET and DRAG RACE vehicles producing up to 2000 horsepower /2000 foot pounds of torque. Every weak link is replaced with our custom machined E4340 steel billet internal components.

COMPETITION COMPONENTS
Heavy duty direct drum with 34 element sprag and spiral retaining ring,OR CUSTOM 36 ELEMENT OVERSIZE SPRAG AND DRUM ASSEMBLY. New GM output shaft with hardened output shaft splines. Heavy duty intermediate clutch snap ring.Custom intermediate snap ring retainer assembly for transbrake equipt units. Rollerized forward clutch hub and output shaft. Heat treated stator tube.New factory deep pan and high flow filter.

CLUTCH AND BAND UPGRADES

5 friction  forward and  direct clutch packs,  and updated 4 friction intermediate clutch pack. New front and rear band.All new forward ,intermediate and direct clutch 1 piece return spring assemblies.

HYDRAULIC UPGRADES
Increased line and lubrication pressure and volume.Modified converter charge circuit . Solid Teflon sealing rings installed on the pump and center support. Special direct clutch case seals and dual feed direct clutch triples clutch apply pressure. Custom calibrated valve body and governor assembly.

SUPER COMP DIRECT DRUM AND OVERSIZE SPRAG UPGRADE               $399.00
When researching or shopping around for a GMTH400 transmission or parts you will commonly come across the description "high performance 34 element sprag and drum assembly".This is a factory part that was used in the early GMTH400 transmissions as well as the newer GM4L80E transmissions.Although this is much stronger than a stock spring and roller clutch assembly it does have its drawbacks.This industry accepted urgrade gets in trouble at 750 horsepower/750 foot pounds of torque,especially in drag cars with a transbrake or manual valve body that uses a fixed high line pressure.As a matter of fact this is usually the only item that needs to be periodically replaced on most properly race prepped GMTH400 transmissions.When the sprag fails the transmission will no longer have second gear.Are you tired of intermediate sprag failures ? Our in house CNC machined Super Comp Direct Drum and Oversize Sprag Assembly is the answer. This custom drum assembly is fitted with oversize tool steel inner and and outer sprag races ,an oversize 36 element sprag assembly,and a custom sprag retaining plate and spiral lock ring.Special machining of the outer race delivers a constant supply of lube oil to the sprag assembly. All this translates into a drum that can handle up to 2000 horsepower/2000 foot pounds of torque reliably.Due to the larger outer sprag race this assembly comes with custom set of 4 intermediate frictions,4 intermediate steels,a modified pressure plate and a heavy duty snap ring.This drum is usually $579.00 when purchased seperately.This means you save $180.00.


#400VP   Variable pitch transmission upgrade with torque converter.         $899.00
This allows the driver to switch between high and low stall speeds with a toggle or throttle mounted switch. When activated, an increase of approximately 1000 RPMS will occur. This increases starting line stall speed for harder launches on the street or the track. When deactivated, the stall speed will drop back down. This will improve top end mile per hour by reducing the inefficiency of the converters fluid coupling. Typical combination will produce between 1800-2200 RPMS low stall speed and 2800-3200 RPMS high stall speed. Additional increases in stall speed can be obtained by using this option in conjunction with a transmission brake. Please contact us for specific converter combinations.

This gear set is used to increase torque multiplication/rotating speed in the transmission in first and second gears. This improves acceleration with heavy vehicles and numerically low final drive ratios. (IE: 3.23, 3.42, 3.73)

This gear set is used to reduce torque multiplication/rotating speed in the transmission in first gear. This improves traction in applications that overpower the rear tires on the launch. This is common with numerically high final drive ratios. (IE: 4.10, 4.56, 4.88)

This gear set is used to reduce torque multiplication/rotating speed in the transmission in first gear. This improves traction in applications that overpower the rear tires on the launch. This set works great with high horspower cars running drag radials.The close ratio design keeps the engine in its peak torque curves on gear changes improving performance.

This is the facory heavy duty straight cut planetary gear set produced by General Motors for extreme duty applications. This gear set is recomended for competition applications with vehicle weight over 4200 pounds.Great for trucks used in mud pulling ,baja/off road that require the stock gear ratios.

COMPETITION COMPONENTS
